Phillips falls to powerhouse Choate

Phillips held high-powered Choate to just a single score in the first half, but the Wild Boars scored three times in the third and pulled away for a 27-15 victory.

"It's been a while since a team has held Choate to just one score in the first half," said Big Blue coach Leon Modeste. "So we did well. I am very proud of the way our kids played today."

Brooks' improbable comeback

The Phillips Academy volleyball team took No. 1 Choate to a fifth game before falling in the Class A semifinals Saturday. Alex Becker and Fran Trautmann had 12 kills apiece for the Big Blue. With the win, Choate coach Dave Loeb won his 400th match.

New England Champ

Brooks junior Andrew Konovalchik of North Andover won the 160-pound division at the 43-team Prep New Englands. Konovalchik, who was runner-up last year and was fifth as a freshman, went 4-0 on the day with two pins, a major decision and a 15-9 win in the finals over of Dan Toubman of Nobles.
