Jaclyn Torres netted three goals and Anne Farnham added two to lead the No. 2 Andover field hockey team to a 5-0 victory over No. 7 Weston in the Division 1 North quarterfinal round yesterday.
Andover, which lost in the semifinals last year and in the finals the year before, is 20-0-0.
"This season has been phenomenal," Andover coach Maureen Noone said. "The kids have played above what I expected for them. The defense has done a nice job. We have an explosive lines of forwards with Jaclyn Torres, the Farnham sisters (Anne and Kate) and and Laura Cahill. It's the most balanced offensive punch we've had in a long time."
Andover plays undefeated No. 3 Beverly in the semifinals tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Reading High.
"I know they are fast," Noone said about Beverly. "They are a grass team, but they don't present as a grass team. They have a few ice hockey players so they have nice passing. They hit the ball really hard. And we're going to have to play our best game against them."
Goals: A — Jaclyn Torres 3, Anne Farnham 2
