Odds and ends: Former Phillips boys coach Bill Scott, after a year sabbatical, has joined the girls team as an assistant. ... Newcomer Shannon Neschke, a post-grade, was a standout at Tabor Academy, where she had already set a school record with 30 career goals before even playing her senior year. ... Catherine Coppinger has been shifted from midfield to defense. ... Freshman Katherine Woonton of Boxford is a triplet and her two brothers are on the Phillips JV team.
Coach Lisa Joel (9th year, 69-43-17): "We're pretty optimistic that we'll have another strong season. We graduated 12 seniors but we have a lot of kids back who weren't starters but are very good players. And we have some new players who should help us. I think Brooks, Nobles and Loomis will all be good again."
