Coe-Brown | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Pelham | 1 | 2 | 3 |
If Pelham keeps playing like this, its won-loss record will just about match its level of confidence.
In the biggest win of head coach Matt Regan's four-year tenure, the Pythons took down Division 2 preseason favorite Coe-Brown, 3-1, in an early matchup of unbeatens.
"(Pelham) believed we were the best team all day," Regan said despite his four-win squad from last season going against a team that hadn't yielded a goal in its two opening contests. "It's the first time I've seen where we've gone against a team better than us on paper and we felt we were better."
After junior Derek DeFranzo and sophomore Raphael DeCampos (three goals each) supplied the offense in the first two wins, Alec Paradis powered the offense yesterday with all three goals, giving him six on the season.
The biggest came after Python goalie Brian Finney, sweeper Richie Sullivan and outside back Ben Bradbury-Koster helped fend off Coe-Brown's final charge for a tying score and connected on an insurance score with three minutes remaining.
"We started off really well in first two games, scoring 11 goals and allowing two, but it was like a light switch went on," Regan concluded. "Give credit to (the players), they rose to the challenge."
