Odds and ends: Starting goalie and co-captain-elect Tamra Comeford will miss the season after tearing her ACL in indoor soccer. ... New starting goalie, freshman Heather Zukas, and midfielder/forward Angela Zukas are identical twins. ... Sanborn graduated only one starter from last year's club, captain Rae Hughes. ... Nineteen freshmen tried out for the teem. ... Co-captains Kady McCullough and Jaci Patterson still keep Allie Fillio in their hearts. Their close friend and teammate died in November 2004 of undiagnosed Type 1 diabetes. ... The Indians are primed for their first .500 or better season since 1997 (8-8).

Coach Eva Lang (7th year, 28-68-5): "We have a very strong front line. Rachele Ferrandi and Jessica Giconda have been on the team for four years and Jessica is a four-year starter. Their knowledge and understanding of the game and how to win is very important. Shannon Snively and Nicole Gianakakis are both playmakers and leaders. (Heather Zukar) is a young and unexperienced player, but her technique, aggressiveness and confidence allowed her to earn the starting (goalie) job. We have high expectations for ourselves this year."
