Haverhill softball pitcher Sammie Yeo was struck in the forehead by a line drive in the first inning of the Hillies' 7-1 loss to Newburport.
"She was in good spirits when I visited her in the hospital after the game," said Hillies coach Andy Reusch. "But it was the hardest I have ever seen a softball hit, and I have been coaching for a long time. She didn't have a chance to get out of the way."
Yeo was taken to Anna Jaques Hospital by ambulence.
"She's a giggly girl and was doing good," said Reusch. "She may have a facal fracture. But she was doing OK."
