Five different Pinkerton players scored goals to lift the No. 3 Astros past No. 6 Merrimack 5-1 in Class L quaterfinal action.
"I can't remember the last time we scored five goals in a playoff game," Pinkerton coach Denise Rioux said.
"We came out and scored in the first three minutes and it was really huge," Rioux added.
Pinkerton won the battle of corners 14-0.
"So our defense did well," Rioux said.
Pinkerton gained a nice cushion when Brittany Gentile scored with 3 minutes left in the firt half to give the Astros a 3-1 lead.
"Luckily that goal took some pressure off," Rioux said. "We took the momentum into the second half."
Pinkerton plays Winnacunnet in a CLass L semifinal at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Exeter High School.
