BELMONT — The Brooks Express came to a an abrupt halt yesterday in a 35-13 loss to Belmont Hill.
After four straight wins to start the season, Brooks was no match for a Belmont Hill squad (4-1) which, according to Brooks coach Alex Konovalchik, "had several good athletes but was mainly just too physical up front."
The best Belmont Hill athletes were quarterback Tyler West, who had a 54-yard run among two touchdowns and tailback Ryan Paganetti, who scored three TDs in the third quarter as Belmont pulled away from a 14-6 halftime lead.
Overall, Belmont Hill rushed for 330 yards. West threw sparingly, completing just one pass.
For Brooks, Jordan Johnson scored on a 20-yard run in the second quarter to briefly pull the Green and White to within one point, 7-6, and gained 116 yards on just 13 carries.
Trailing 35-6, Brooks scored again in the fourth quarter when Brian Charlebois returned a fumble 65 yards for a touchdown. Joon Lee kicked the extra point.
Brooks returns home Saturday to host the Governor's Academy.
