ROWLEY Despite playing in light rain and on a muddy surface, the undefeated Triton Vikings seemed unaffected by the playing conditions en route to its fifth straight win, 33-14 over North Reading. The now 5-0 Vikings got another steller performance by running back Brendan O'Neil, rushing for 169 yards and two scores while the Hornets were plagued by numerous turnovers.

Triton continued to beat teams with an impressive, tough rushing attack, racking up 269 yards on the ground and while only attempting one pass.

"To play a team like Triton we had to come in and play a perfect game and we just didn't do that against them," said Hornet coach Jeff Wall. "They're very big and tough and have been rolling over alot of teams and we couldn't afford to give them turnovers."

After scoring on the games opening drive and intercepting triton quarterback Blaise Whitmans first pass, the Hornets immediatly gave the ball back to the Vikings on a fumble. Jedd Hutchins the player who scooped up the fumble and returned it 45 yards to the 5 yard line then scored two plays later on a one yard plunge.

The next Hornet possession ended on the first of three interceptions thrown on the night by quarterback Nicholas Rosano. The Vikings again quickley turned the turnover into points as O'Neil took the ensuing handoff 65 yards to the endzone, running through serveal would-be tacklers on the way to put Triton up 14-6.

Later in the half another Hornet fumble, recovered by O'Neil, would set up a 7 yard touchdown run by Tritons Billy Murphy.

Comming out of the half down 26-6, North Reading looked to gain some momentum by stuffing O'Neil on a fourth down play near the goal-line before turning the ball over again on Tritons Michael Wilsons second interception of the night. Triton again marched downfield and put in their final score of the night on O'Neils 15th touchdown of the year.

In all North Reading turned the ball over five times which the oppurtunistic Vikings turned into 27 points.

The Hornets were not without an impressive performance of the own however, getting 145 rushing yards and a touchdown from senior runningback Robert Rosano. Rosano carried the ball 23 times into the teeth of a big Viking defense but continued to run extremely hard and ripped off a number of long runs. His play garnered praise from both coaches.

"He's he heart of the team," said Wall of his runningback, "He's our leader, he hates losing and wants the ball on every play and we obviously try and give it to him every play."

"That is exactly the kind of player a coach would want," said Triton coach Jim O'Leary. "He just keeps comming at you even when he takes a beating, just keeps getting up and getting, I was very impressed with him."

North Reading fell to 1-4 and will travel to North Andover next friday night.
