Ranked second all time on the Massachusetts all-time win list, North Reading coach Frank Carey reached another milestone as he recorded his 650th career win. Hornet junior Matt Calos had three hits and broke the game open with a two-RBI triple in the bottom of the fifth inning as North Reading beat Amesbury 5-1.
North Reading got another solid outing from pitcher Eric Diffily, who struck out six en route to his fourth victory of the season. The highlight of Diffily's performance came in the top of sixth inning when after already allowing one run, walking two more, and pitching into a full count, struck out Amesbury's Sean Ward on a breaking ball.
