The Pinkerton softball team (15-5), which failed to even make the tournament last year, continued its turnaround season with a 5-0 win over Winnacunnet in the first round of the Class L tournament yesterday. Cara Chooljian led the way, striking out nine while scattering five hits and helping her own cause with a key two-run double.
Chooljian and Shannon Murphy both had two hits on the day for the Astros, who will be at Londonderry at 4 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals.
