ANDOVER | Former Pinkerton Academy standout quarterback Bryan Farris made his Phillips Academy debut a memorable one, airing it out for 253 yards as the Big Blue cruised to a 32-6 win over Loomis Chaffee yesterday in the season opener for both teams.

"Farris is everything we thought he would be and more," said Phillips head coach Leon Modeste after his first-year QB tossed four touchdown passes and rushed for another. "It was a good way to open but we have some things to work on," said Modeste.

Farris used four different receivers to complete 10 of 15 passes with Luke Duprey being on the receiving end of two touchdown passes and 77 overall yards. Ryan McCarthy (52 yards) and Luke Miller (51 yards) hauled in the other Phillips touchdowns.

Farris tossed two touchdown passes in the first quarter and the Big Blue were never threatened.

Phillips struggled on the ground with Charlie DiGiulian and Dan Evans each grinding out 37 yards.

Defensively, Phillips was strong with Andover's Corbin Tognoni shutting down the passing game from his safety position. Zak Boyd led the defense with seven tackles while Miller had two sacks and a pair of tackles. Outside linebacker Thane Sanford, from Haverhill contributed five tackles.

Phillips will play at the Tufts JV Sept. 30 at 1 p.m.
