DEERFIELD, Mass. | The normally high-powered Phillips Academy offense was grounded to just one late touchdown in a 20-9 loss to Deerfield Academy. The setback was the first for the Big Blue (5-1).
Bryan Farris connected on a 47-yard field goal in the first quarter but Phillips had to wait until the final quarter to score again.
Farris connected with Ryan McCarthy on a 70-yard pass play, but it was too little too late for the Big Blue.
"They (Deerfield) made some big plays at inopportune times for us," said Phillips head coach Leon Modeste. "We look forward to righting the ship next Saturday (6 p.m. vs. Worcester Academy)."
