With nothing to play for but pride, the Fishermen (3-6-9 overall, 3-5-7 in the NEC) saved one of their finest performances of the season for the last game. Most impressively, Gloucester was down 2-0 on the road in the second half before making its comeback.

"We've been in every game," said Gloucester head coach James Cook. "Against Swampscott we had a goal called back in both games. They won the NEC.

"We missed a penalty kick in the first half (last night), that's kind of the way our season has been. We actually finished the season with a plus-1 goal differential. We've been competitive in every game, we've tied a lot of teams that are going to the tournament and taken a lot of teams to the brink. The results haven't gone our way."

Senior outside midfielder Frank Freedman sparked the Fishermen rally with the first goal, setting the stage for senior outside midfielder Chris Horne's tying strike.

Senior captain Alex Trotsky did a great job at striker, occupying multiple defenders while senior center midfielder Jeff Amero technically played out of position but still stood out.

As a coach, Cook couldn't be happier to see the effort and desire his team showed. "Being down two goals, we showed we're not going anywhere. Danvers is going on, they have everything to play for. That doesn't matter for these guys, it's a real credit to them for fighting. I think we've only won three times in 35 years in Danvers and they haven't beaten us in two years (Gloucester tied both games this season and won both matchups last year).
