After losing to Marblehead 3-0 in their first meeting of the season, the Fishermen (3-6-8) had a better result this time around but it wasn't the win they needed to keep their tournament hopes alive. Gloucester has two more games and they had to win out to qualify for the tournament.
Senior striker Frank Taormina put Gloucester up 1-0 in the first half off an assist from senior striker Alex Trotsky. Marblehead scored a fluke goal in the second half to tie it up and then both sides traded chances, with neither finding the net again.
Senior stopper Massimo Delisi, senior sweeper Brett Davis, senior midfielder and captain Jeff Amero and junior midfielder Anthony LaRocca were other standouts for the Fishermen who host Swampscott on Thursday.
