MARBLEHEAD — The Marblehead High football team earned its first winning season since 1992 last year, but due to its less than glorious history, there’s always skepticism surrounding the Magicians program.

Michelle Hall had a big meet, winning the all-around, floor and bars to pace North Andover gymnastics in a win over Marblehead.

North Andover's Jen Pino scored a goal and teammate Lauren Cerretani, also of North Andover, had an assist to help Masconomet to a 3-2 win over Marblehead in the CAL/ NEC battle for first place.  Other North Andover residents playing well for Masconomet include Meghan Twoomey and Alyssa Sady.

Joe Chandler (130) had a signature win 6-2 over Marblehead's captain Brandon Poulin as Triton defeated Marblehead, 33-15.

For the Vikings Dan Chandler (119), Mike Doherty (135), Nick Cross (1152), Brendan O'Neil (171), and Jordan Doucette (189) all had wins. 

The visiting Magicians need a win to advance to the state playoffs for the first time in history; host Swampscott is the defending Division 3 Super Bowl champs.

senior striker Frank Taormina, assisted from senior striker Alex Trotsky. Gloucester was up 1-0 in the first half, halfway through first half. they scored on own goal, skimmed head of player, hit post and hit another the player.

After losing to Marblehead 3-0 in their first meeting of the season, the Fishermen (3-6-8) had a better result this time around but it wasn't the win they needed to keep their tournament hopes alive. Gloucester has two more games and they had to win out to qualify for the tournament.

Emily Castro put the Fishermen (11-4-2) up 1-0 in the first half off a corner play from Kat LaCroix and Brianna Aloisio.

The Magicians tied it up early in the second half before Olivia Frontiero put home the game-winner, with assists from Aloisio and Emily Interrante. Fishermen goalie Alicia Unis made 10 saves.

On Saturday, the Fishermen (10-4-2) blanked the Big Blue, 5-0 at Salem State's turf field.

Kat LaCroix and Marissa Drozd scored two goals apiece while Brianna Aloisio (assist) tallied the other Gloucester goal. Olivia Frontiero had two assists. Olivia Brown was the other star in the win.
