SUFFIELD, Conn — For a minute, it looked likea big upset was in the making.
Phillips trailed just 14-7 early in the fourth quarter against a talented Suffield Academy team after Andover's Michael Thompson hit North Andover's Matt Sapienza for a 35-yard touchdown.
But Suffield (4-1) completed a 75-yard touchdown pass that broke Phillips' back, and the Big Blue fell 21-7 Saturday afternoon.
Thompson finished his day 11 of 20 passing for 125 yards and the touchdown. Post-grad Sal Lupoli of Chelmsford led the defense with 16 tackles and a fumble recovery, Magnus Voge had 15 tackles and Ben Carpo had 10 tackles and a sack.
Phillips wil try to bounce back next Sunday when it hosts Deerfield Academy at 1:30 p.m.
