Sophomore right-hander Stephanie Rudis of Methuen pitched the first no-hitter of her career and the fourth in the history of the school as she dominated Northeast Regional of Wakefield, 12-0. Rudis finished with one strikeout and two walks and the Bulldogs defense played superbly behind her. North Shore Tech improved to 7-1
"She's focused and she's a gamer," North Shore Tech coach Joe Balzarini said of Rudis. "She had great location; spotted the ball extremely well and our catcher, Nicole Tower, did a great job of handling the game. Not many balls were hit hard against her. We only had to make two outfield plays."
First baseman Whitney Bell of Beverly had three hits, including her third homer of the season. Rudis also had three hits and matched Bell with three RBIs. Nicole Comppen had a hit and scored two runs and Paige Sanseverino had a hit and two RBIs.
Kelly Dodge (1997 and '98) and Kim Curran (2005) have also pitched no-hitters for the Bulldogs.
