Odds and ends: Junior Kaleigh Gilbert pitched every inning for the Reggies last year, but coach Jay Santomassino hopes to share the mound burden with Natalie Garcia and promising freshman Trudy Goetchius. ... Garcia and Tatiana Perez are the only seniors in the program. ... Junior catcher Geraldine Jimenez came on strong late in the season last year in only her third year of organized ball. ... Joelle Hernandez, who started with the Reggies last year, is back at Lawrence High, where she played in 2006.

Coach Jay Santomassino (7th year, 49-56): "The good news is that we have a lot of talent back, the bad news is that we moved up to the (Commonwealth Conference) upper division. That will make it tougher for us, but I'll be disappointed if we don't make the tournament. A lot will depend on our pitching. Paola (Gutierrez) is the best hitter we've had since Alba Santos (Class of 2006)."
