Odds and ends: Julie Lamoly, who is in her eighth year as a middle school teacher in Georgetown, takes over for Harold Pini (57-64 in six years), who resigned due to family considerations. Lamoly, is from Danvers, where she has coached on the youth level. She is also a veteran sub-varsity field hockey coach at Georgetown. ... Five players from last year's team didn't try out this year including Julie Fehlmann and Robyn Scotti, a pair of CAL All-Stars, who would have been the team's only seniors. ... CAL All-Star Sarah Erlandson is in her third year as the Royals' pitcher and she's only a freshman. ... Freshman Melanie Prior is switching from the outfield to catcher, setting up a potential four-year combination with Erlandson.

Coach  Julie  Lamoly (1st year): "We're very young and we're trying to rebuild the program. We're working on fundamentals and we're stressing staying focused. We're hoping to be competitive in the league. Our goal is to make the playoffs. Those are high expectations but with high expectations comes success."
