Congratulations are in order for Danvers High senior Jay Sabino, who became the Falcons' record holder for most goals scored in a season.
Sabino took over the lead in Danvers' final game of the season against Gloucester. His 57 goals put him atop the Danvers' list.
"It was a goal once I figured I was close enough to reach it," Sabino said.
Sabino switched to lacrosse from baseball as a 13-year-old and he made quick strides to become a dangerous ambidexterous scorer.
"Being able to go both left and righty was my best asset," Sabino said. "I had been playing baseball and I got bored with it. I figured I would give lacrosse a shot. The first year was difficult, but it came to me pretty easy after that."
Sabino finished the season with 57 goals and 17 assists for 74 points. He accumulated 126 points (90 goals, 36 assists) in his three-year varsity career. He will be attending the University of Southern New Hampshire next year and intends to continue playing lacrosse.
