The Beverly High lacrosse team's remarkable win streak in the Northeastern Conference is still alive. But Panthers coach John Pynchon doesn't want his team putting pressure on itself.

Jack Liacos scored in overtime, off an assist by Dave Cheney, as Beverly tipped Danvers, 8-7, yesterday. Beverly (4-3 overall) has won 102 straight NEC games going back to 1997.

"The streak will end sometime," said Pynchon. "I joke with (the players) and say, 'My streak is only 4-0 (in the NEC).' We can't worry about it.

"The kids do a great job. We were down 3-0 today and came back. Our kids aren't scared of overtime. They don't back down, and you really can't coach that. They're winning these close games and learning how to play with something on the line. That's the important thing."

Joe Reinold finished with two goals and two assists. Greg Pierce and John Kleemola each had two goals and Cheney had a goal to go along with his key assist in overtime.

Jay Sabino had three goals and an assist for Danvers. Eric Sands added two goals.
