With just 15 seconds left in double-overtime, Tori Brown took the ball down field and fired a pass to Marissa Zarella, who made a move and scored to give No. 9 North Reading a 1-0 upset of top-seeded Newburyport in the Division 3 North quarterfinal.
The victory sends the Hornets to the Division 3 North semifinals against No. 5 Swampscott on Monday at 5 p.m. at Manning Field in Lynn.
Katerina Hassapis was huge in net for North Reading with six saves, helped by the defensive efforts of Kerri-Ann Donovan, Gianna Moscaritolo and Jessica Muise.
