Whittier advances into semifinals

Behind back-to-back homers by Kayla Riley and Dominique Ortiz, Whittier softball won 9-5 over Rockport in the Division 3 North quarterfinals. 

Riley's homer was a three-run shot. She also struck out eight batters. 

Lena Farrana, meanwhile, stroked a two-run triple and Ashley Wilson and Katrina Gallagher each had three hits.

The Wildcats play St. Mary's in the semifinals on Thursday at 4 p.m.
