Defending state champions Lowell (20-0-1) and Greater Lawrence (21-0) are strong favorites to capture the North dual-meet team sectionals today and tomorrow.

In Division 1, host No. 1-seed Lowell faces No. 4 St. John's Prep at 6 p.m. today while No. 2 Chelmsford takes on No. 3 Methuen. The winners will meet at 8 p.m. Lowell has defeated all three teams handily and doesn't figure to face much competition.

In fact. St. John's plans on resting its individual state-meet qualifiers and Methuen coach Bill James has stated that he will rest his entire starting lineup. Both don't want to risk injury to their individual standouts.

In Division 2, the host top-seed Reggies will take on Tewksbury at 5 p.m. tomorrow while No. 2 Central Catholic battles No. 3 Westford. The winners will meet in the sectional finals at 7 p.m.

Winners of the four sectionals will square off next Tuesday or Wednesday in the state semifinals at the site of the highest seed, which will undoubtedly be both Lowell and Greater Lawrence since both are undefeated.

The state finals in each division are set for Feb. 26.
