Opposing schools wouldn't mind it if St. John's Prep moved out of the Catholic Conference for a while. The Eagles are just too tough to beat.

Making good use of its depth, St. John's Prep handled Malden Catholic, 54-18, to win its 10th straight Catholic Conference title. The Eagles have won 43 in a row in the conference and they're 21-5 overall this season.

"We wrestle a very difficult schedule and it pays off," said Prep coach Manny Costa. "It isn't easy keeping confidence throughout the long winter season, but our starters believed in the system that was in place. The kids battled through injuries, sickness and tough losses to keep the title in Danvers."

Junior Ryan Harding, who is 37-1 this season, won by a pin at 135 pounds. Also winning by a fall were Frank Miller (125 pounds), Kelly Johnson (140), Rob Mandile (145), James Gibbons (152), Pat Higgins (215) and Kevin Poplaski (285).

T.J. Crabtree, a freshman, won by a 4-0 decision at 119 pounds, and Jack Marraffa (160) prevailed, 6-1. Alex Kwmuntis (112) won by forfeit.
