Opener: quad-meet at Reading Dec. 8

Odds and ends: Senior Andy Lane had a tremendous junior season, going 37-6, winning the Cape Ann League and Division 3 North titles and finishing fourth at Division 3 States at 112. ... Sophomore Dan Dragon had a fine freshman season, finishing fifth in the sectional. ... Former Sachem John DeSimone and middle school coach Steve Beaudoin join the staff as assistants. ... A welcome addition to the squad is talented sophomore transfer Josh Murray from Georgia. ... Freshman Ben Lane is the younger brother of Andy Lane.

Dennis Puleo (5th year): "We have a lot of returning kids (10 starters), but how will we replace (standouts) Jeff Puopolo and Sam DeBenedictis? We won't have the automatic wins they gave us. But I'm hoping to go .500 this year. We have some guys like Ben Stasiuk, Brian Cormier and Dan Dragon who look improved and Andy Lane should have a great season."
