Mike O'Donnell made history yesterday at the Merrimack Valley Conference meet at Chelmsford.

The Methuen senior placed first in 15:50 on Chelmsford's 5K course, besting runner-up Lowell standout Patrick Coppinger by 13 seconds making him the first runner to ever win the MVC meet twice. He also beat his time of last year by 19 seconds and set a new course record.

As a team, the Rangers finished fourth, with sophomores Matt Marchand and Cam Pavao taking 14th and 18th respectively. As expected, Lowell easily cruised to the championship.

After O'Donnell and Marchand, the top local runners were Haverhill's Christian White (15th) and Andover's Max Galat (16th).
