EMass. Cross Country: Rangers' O'Donnell rolls to title

WRENTHAM — Mike O’Donnell had two goals yesterday at the Eastern Mass. Division 1 meet, and he reached both in rousing fashion.

“I wanted to beat him (Lexington rival Nathaniel Adams) and win the race and I wanted to be under 15:45,” said O’Donnell.

O'Donnell places first

 

Mike O'Donnell made history yesterday at the Merrimack Valley Conference meet at Chelmsford.

The Methuen senior placed first in 15:50 on Chelmsford's 5K course, besting runner-up Lowell standout Patrick Coppinger by 13 seconds making him the first runner to ever win the MVC meet twice. He also beat his time of last year by 19 seconds and set a new course record.

Comei reaches goal

Haverhill senior Nick Comei reached his season goal while finishing sixth in a tri-meet split with Chelmsford and Lawrence. His time of 16:26 on the 2.9-mile home course puts him on the Hillie all-time list for times. Christian White was second overall in 16:05.
