The tournament bound Crusaders (12-7-1) shook off Monday's Carlin Cup defeat against Peabody by coming from behind to best Beverly. The visiting Panthers had a 2-1 lead in the third before the Crusaders struck with power play tallies from Mark Sparaco and Dale Crispin to snare the victory.
"For us to come back down the stretch shows the energy we need to bring into the tournament," said Fenwick coach Bob Tierney. "We needed something positive after Monday. This will help us emotionally."
Goals from Mike Boches and Conor Walsh spotted the Panthers (7-11-2) a lead after two periods in their season finale, but Fenwick goalie Craig Forrest was flawless in the third and totaled 35 saves to stave off the feisty visitors. C.J. Cacciatore turned aside 27 shots in the Beverly net.
"Hats off to Beverly and coach (Bob) Gilligan | they came ready to play and it was a great up and down game," said Tierney. "Their kids have a lot of pride and we were fortunate to get a couple of power play chances we took advantage of."
