North Andover may have won the wars, beating North Reading and Pentucket in boys track, but John Braga was the highlight of yesterday's tri-meet.

The North Reading junior continued his stellar season, breaking his own school record in winning the long jump (21-11), adding victories in both hurdles events along with a close second overall in the high jump.

"In five meets, out of 100 possible points John's scored 98," said Hornets coach Ryan Spinney. "He's only a junior and most of our team is made up of younger kids. The future's bright."

North Andover coach Steve Nugent concurred on Braga, saying, "He's the real deal. He's a pretty special athlete."

The Knights had three double winners (Kyle Quinn, Eric Riedel and Jacob Johns), and David Rose, running his second career 400 hurdles, not only won the race but set a new school record of 59.27.

For Pentucket, the efforts of Matt Barry (long jump) and Cooper Carifio (100) qualified the pair for the CAL league meet.
