Windham rolls over Bishop Brady

CONCORD — As far as starts go, Windham could not have drawn up a better one.

On the first play of the day,  Dan Cannone knocked the ball loose and sophomore defensive lineman David Crichton picked up and scampered 43 yards for a touchdown as the Jaguars crushed Bishop Brady 44-0.

"We couldn't have asked for a better start," said Windham coach Bill Raycraft. "It set the tone from there. It relaxed the offense because they had the lead and let them work."

Windham's tight double-wing offense was the perfect fit for the wet conditions, as the Jaguars rolled up 325 yards rushing on 22 carries, an average of 14.8 yards a rush.

"The footing really helped us," said Raycraft. "The field was pretty sloppy, so we were able to get to the second level."

Kennie Padin needed just six carries to rush for a game-high 121 yards (15.1 yards a rush), including a 64-yard touchdown. He also caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Joe Lorenz.

Scott Priestly added 104 yards and a touchdown on just eight carries and caught a 32-yard pass to set up a score. Lorenz finished with 136 yards passing.

Crichton led the Jaguar defense, making three tackles for loss, while Kevin Cooney and Artem Aristov also impressed for the winners.

"We'll take it," said Raycraft. "It's another step closer to where we want to be."
