In search of a goal and a berth in the MIAA Division 1 North first round, the Peabody field hockey team turned to its captains and the leaders delivered. Co-captain Sam Terenzoni fed fellow co-captain Tawny Palmieri as the 15th seeded Tanners toppled Concord-Carlisle 1-0 in preliminary round action.

With the win, Peabody advances to face No.2 seed Andover, a familiar foe, tomorrow at Andover (3 p.m.). "This is the third year in a row that we have played Andover and they knocked us out the last two years. We feel like we know them pretty well," said Peabody head coach Lorraine Benoit. "The hearts of the players on this team remember what happened."

Junior Rebecca Mullen stopped 17 shots to make Palmieri's goal stand up and she'll need to be on her game again tomorrow against a high-powered Andover offense that plays on a fast-moving artificial turf.

"We're going to need more than one goal," Benoit said. "The game's going to be different, but I think (the turf) will help our offense a lot.

"I know that the kids will be up to the challenge and if things go right, we can move on."
