The No. 16 seed Magicians (9-6-5) gave the No. 1 seed and defending champions a tough contest in a Div. 2 North first round match.
Marblehead, which played Sunday, came into the game with a defensive strategy in order to conserve energy against the team who had eight days rest. It worked well until Concord Carlisle scored on a Marblehead own goal.
"The first goal came with just under 14 minutes left in the first half and it took a little steam out of us," said Marblehead coach Steve Ingemi. They regrouped down, 2-0, at the half.
"We outshot them 5-2 in the second half. It was a big moral victory after getting beat by them 6-0 last year," said Ingemi.
Seniors Mike DiFillippi, George Kaltsas and Dan November all played well. Junior stopper Pat Song also played well in the contest.
