Courtney Parese scored in the first half and Pelham's defense stiffened in the second half, earning the Pythons their first win of the season, 1-0 over Pembroke. Parese scored 12 1/2 minutes into play when she battled a crowd for the rebound of Madison Giordino's penalty corner shot and found the back of the net. From there, excellent defensive efforts from Becca DeBaldo, Kim Polcari and Shana Schaffer both shut down Pembroke's attack and allowed Pelham's forwards to play more aggressively.

"It's beyond impressive," said head coach Pattie Stilphen. "Technically, this is really unheard of. Six goals is a very high-scoring field hockey game, but to have 39 saves is unreal. That's 50 minutes of just a phenomenal goalie."
