Salem bests Pinkerton

BEDFORD, N.H. | This time, there will be a winner.

The squads battled to a 2-2 deadlock three weeks ago, the lone blemish on either team's record. And fittingly, the rematch will be for the Class L championship.

Pinkerton advances

No. 4 Pinkerton jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first half and cruised to a 3-1 victory over No. 5 Exeter in the quarterfinals of the Class L tourney.

"They play their offense high on the field," said Pinkerton coach Denise Rioux. "So we turned that into a lot of fast breaks and number rushes, and it worked out perfectly for us." Devan Shea, Jackie Benson and Brittany Paris each scored a goal while Nikki Curry added an assist. Julie Medeiros made six saves for the winners, who face Salem on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Bedford High School.
