Hillies win close one

Haverhill outlasted Lowell and came away with a big 3-2 victory. Brett Pettis racked up 25 kills, and Kyle Carter dished out a stunning 51 saves. Zach Sindoni chipped in 33 digs, and Tom Buttner added 16 kills.

Odds on Hillies' side

The passing of Kyle Carter lifted Haverhill's volleyball team to a five-game victory over Central Catholic. Now at 3-5, the Hillies won the odd numbered games to prevail. With 38 assists, Carter funnelled the ball effectively to frontliners Brett Pettis (16 kills plus four aces), Tom Buttner (nine kills, two blocks and 18 digs) and Drew Caruso (eight kills and two blocks). For the Raiders (2-6), John Malarney had 12 kills and Pat Guidi had 24 assists.

Haverhill was at its best in the odd games, earning a 25-21, 13-25, 25-19, 18-25. 15-11 win over Central Catholic. Brett Pettis (16 kills, four aces), Tom Buttner (nine kills, two blocks, 18 digs) and Drew Caruso (eight kills and two blocks) led the Hillies attack.

Brilliant in defeat

Haverhill got out to a quick start, taking the first two games from Lowell, but the Hillies ended up falling 25-22, 25-18, 17-25, 16-25, 13-15 in one of the closest contests of this young season. Brett Pettis registered 23 kills, Tom Buttner chipped in 15 digs, and Andrew Connolly had five aces.

Lancers cruise past Hillies

Haverhill pushed Chelmsford to the limit on Wednesday before losing the final game 17-15, but the Hillies couldn't muster the same fight for Lawrence, which won 25-14, 25-17, 25-19. Ramon Heredia led the way with 12 kills and Yordano Osoria racked up 15 service points (three kills).
