Allen Gao booted home a goal top shelf with his left foot in double-overtime, to give surging No. 16 seed Andover boys soccer a 3-2 victory over No. 8 St. John's Prep in the Division 1 North quarterfinals on Thursday night.

Andover's boys soccer team got two goals from Zoah Silva-Landry and a single goal from Evan Arpin to upset No. 1 seed Lynn English 3-1 in Division 1 North First Round action. Andover, which entered as the No. 16 seed, outshot Lynn English and controlled the action much of the game. Lynn English ended its season at 14-1-2 while the Warriors advance to a tough 3 p.m. matchup Thursday at St. John's Prep.

Joe Atwood made 11 saves for the shutout, leading No. 16 Andover past No. 17 Haverhill 3-0 in the Division 1 North preliminary round. Anthony Previte, Allen Gao and Evan Arpin each scored a goal for the winners.

Jackson Gress scored two goals and Joe Atwood turned in 14 saves for Andover, which dealt North Andover its second loss of the season, 3-1. Evan Arpin added the other Golden Warrior (8-6-3) goal. Max Camallaro scored for the Scarlet Knights (12-2-2).

Behind two goals by Allen Gao and a goal from Zoah Silva-Landry, Andover's boys soccer team won its second game in two days to improve to 7-6-3. After starting the season 2-5-1, the Warriors have lost only once in the last seven games.

Evan Arpin scored both of Andover's goals in the second half as the Golden Warriors slipped past Central Catholic, 2-1, in a battle of two equal teams. Will McCarthy scored for the Raiders.

Junior William Equi's first career varsity goal in the 68th minute stood up and North Andover topped Andover, 1-0. Jimmy Boyle flicked a pass over the goalie's head and Equi volleyed it in. Junior Tyler Bussell posted his seventh shutout of the fall for the 6-0-1 Knights. Jackson Berberich and Johnny Bono also starred.

Austin Holland buried his second goal of the game, which ended up being the game winner, to lead Andover boys soccer to a 2-1 win over Haverhill. Aidan Robarts was the goal-scorer for the Hillies.

Jackson Brown scored the eventual game-winning goal as Andover held off Dracut 3-2.
