North Andover Scarlet Knights Girls Track and Field '19

A first for Knights

 

North Andover's girls track team clipped Haverhill 99-46 to finish 5-0 in the MVC large school division for the first time since joing in the league in 2012. Caitlin Wessel and Emily Grant had personal bests in the shot and discus respectively. Trinity Tapper ran a season best in the 200, a 26.59.

Barbanti takes crown

Andover's Delia Barbanti won the 200 (25.38), one of three local champions including Haverhill's Jayla Kitchings (100 hurdles) and North Andover's Sarah Lavery (high jump) at the Weston Twilight Invitational on Saturday.

Golden Warrior Lauren Olson was second in the javelin (106-8) and Methuen's Geraldine Gomez was eighth in the shot put (33-1).

Parrott flies ahead

It was a good day for Andover's Jodi Parrott at the annual MVC Freshman/Sophomore meet. The freshman took first in the long jump (18-9.5), winning by over a foot, then took first in the 100 hurdles by over two seconds (15.36).

Personal bests

Three North Andover girls track runners recorded personal bests as the Knights defeated Central Catholic, 91 1/3-53-2/3. Freshman Leyla Kvaternik (mile, 5:30.46), Abby Mastromonaco (two-mile, 11:59.73) and Emily Grant (shot put, 33-4) all upped their records. Katharine Duren was Central's main standout, winning the triple jump, 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash.

Trinity's day

Trinity Tapper jumped a personal best 18-4 in the long jump, took part in the winning 4x100 relay team and came in second in the 100 to help North Andover defeat Lowell, 74-71.
