BOSTON — The heart of a champion is often an impossible hurdle to overcome. 

LAWRENCE – There are several cliches about beating a team three times in a season, and Central Catholic nearly fell prey to the worst of those Thursday night.

LAWRENCE – Ending a regular season with a struggling offense, is not the ideal way to enter a sectional tournament.

Central Catholic's girls went up against unbeaten Wachusett and couldn't get untracked, falling 56-27. Kaylee Thomas led the Raiders (16-4) with eight points.

Central Catholic beat Cambridge in the Bill Gibbons Memorial Tournament in Wachusett in a defensive battle, 36-27. Kaylee Thomas led Central (16-3) with 14 points. The Raiders face 19-0 Wachusett Monday at 5:45 in the tourney finals.

Central Catholic (15-3, 14-0 MVC) wrapped up its second straight unbeaten year in the conference with a 60-25 shellacking of Lowell. Kaylee Thomas had 11 points and Adrianna Niles added nine for the Raiders.

Kaylee Thomas scored 9 of her 10 points in the fourth quarter to help Central Catholic pull away for a 46-38 victory over North Andover. Emily Downer had 13 points and 9 rebounds for the Raiders (14-3). 

Central Catholic girls basketball remained an undefeated 9-0 in the MVC (10-3 overall) with a 49-43 win over Tewksbury. Kaylee Thomas led the way with 15 points and Nadeshka Bridgewater had 9.

Central Catholic outscored Lowell 24-0 in the second quarter on its way to a 46-20 victory.

Claudia Porto has a season-high 10 points to lead Central Catholic to a 58-35 win over North Andover. Nadeshka Bridgewater and Claire Finney each have 15 for the Raiders, who are 7-3 overall and 6-0 in the MVC. Norah Connors led the Knights with 12.
