Knights roll, now 11-2

The Northern Essex Community College women’s volleyball team swept past Great Bay Community College f 25-15, 25-18, 25-17, improving their overall record to 11-3.  Andover's Sarah Shattuck and Salem's Rachel Amiss  each contributed 12 kills and Lawrence's Nashaly Sanchez had  25 assists.   The Knights will return to the court on Saturday when they will play host to the Region XXI volleyball tournament as the top seed with a 6-0 regional record.

Revenge win

 

Haverhill's boys soccer team avenged a loss to Central Catholic earlier in the season with a 3-2 win.  Aidan Robarts, Alexander Melo and Tanner Van Cor scored for the Hillies and Aidan Corcoran played well.

Hillies net 3rd win

 

Connor Buscema scored on an assist from Fritz Kleiner in the first half and Aidan Robarts scored from Aidan Corcoran in the second half as Haverhill picked up its third boys soccer win of the season, blanking Methuen 2-0. Kyle Tremblay played well in net for Methuen.

May takes first

 

Haverhill's Keith May finished first in the junior-senior race at the Frank Kelly Invitational Saturday, leading from the start and finishing the  3K race in 10:05. Teammate Andrew Harrison was 12th in 10:47.

Ramirez leads LHS

Trailing 2-1 early in the second half, Lawrence roared back with three goals off corner kicks. Brandon Ramirez had two of the corners Lester Navichoque had the other. Ramriez also scored a goal whille Jesus Guzman, Denis Cano, Ebed Ixlaj also scored. It was a big win for coach Edgar Escalante, who celebrated his 27th birthday.

Kleiner on PK

Ian Miller was tripped with three minutes to play and Fritz Kleiner converted the ensuing PK to give Haverhill a 4-3 win over Andover. Alex Archambault scored twice for the Hillies and center-back Alex Melo was terrific in the win.

After a scoreless first half, Central Catholic broke through after halftime to beat Haverhill 3-1. John McCarthy, Alex Furry and Michael Koralishn each scored for the Raiders. Tanner VanCor had the Hillie goal.
