The Methuen boys tennis team fell to Boston Latin Academy 4-1 in Thursday's Division 1 North Quarterfinals. The second doubles tandem of Kevin Yassini and Albert Kim were the Rangers' lone winners, winning a marathon match 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (10-7).

Jacob Greer, Cob Yirrell and Chris Crowninshield swept the singles as Methuen slipped past Tyngsboro, 3-2, to finish the regular season at 14-5.

Methuen top singles player Jacob Greer scored a 7-5, 7-5 win over Haverhill and a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Billerica as the Rangers swept a doubleheader 5-0 and 5-0.

Will Comerford rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 3 singles, the deciding match in North Andover's 3-2 victory over Methuen. The Scarlet Knights have now won 13 straight after dropping their season-opener.

Sean Pfordresher and Will Comerford won their singles matches in three sets as North Andover downed Methuen, 4-1.

Jacob Greer and Cobb Yirrell both dropped the first sets at first and second singles but rallied for wins as Methuen dropped Lowell 4-1 in boys tennis.

Chris Crowninshield won a 6-4, 6-4 marathon which took 2:45. At that point the match was tied so the freshman was the hero, giving Methuen a 3-2 win over Malden Catholic. He also clinched the win in an early-season match.

After a tough tiebreaker loss in Methuen's first match of the year against Chelmsford, freshman Chris Crowninshield delivered a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak victory to not only earn his first varsity win, but to help the Rangers beat Tyngsborough 3-2 and remain undefeated.
