LAWRENCE — Desperate times hit the Lawrence High hoop team a bit prematurely in the Division 1 North tourney last night.

No. 18 Chelmsford led 15th-seeded listless Lawrence by eight (47-39) midway through the third quarter, and both all-conference Lancers Jaylen Alicea and Jesse Hiraldo had been summoned to the bench by coach Paul Neal.

 Raudy Minaya (22 points, 10 rebounds) and Kyle Mansour (18 points, 10 rebounds) had impressive double-doubles and Mike Gorman added 13 points and 8 assists as Methuen downed Chelmsford 65-52.

Joe Bramanti did it all as Andover dumped Chelmsford 76-50. The Brama Bull pumped in 30 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked three shots and registered six steals.

With 12 assists and two baskets, Michael Gorman had a hand in over half of Methuen's field goals in a 62-40 triumph over Chelmsford. James Staples highlighted a strong defensive effort with three steals.

Matt McDermott and Tyler Nelson came off the bench for 21 combined points in Central Catholic's easy 90-52 romp over Chelmsford. Jaycob Morales was strong for the Raiders with 13 points, 8 assists and 3 steals.

Jaylen Alicea scored 38 points with seven assists and three steals to power Lawrence over Chelmsford 77-66.
