No. 9 Andover fell to No. 8 Burlington 3-1 in the first round of the Division 1 North tournament.

"We had our opportunities," said Andover interim head coach Scott Manty. "We had a couple breakaways late, but we just couldn't put them home. Their goalie played excellent tonight."

NORTH ANDOVER — It was the only rebound Joey Daccord couldn't control yesterday, and for good reason.

Trailing 3-2 with seconds remaining and goalie Kyle Berthiaume pulled for an extra attacker, Andover defenseman Chris Kucharski drove a rising slap shot from the right point. The laser drilled North Andover netminder Daccord in his facemask right between the eyes and bounced to the side of the net. Scotty Campbell collected the rare loose puck and tucked it past the startled goalie with 9.4 seconds remaining for a 3-3 face-saving deadlock, pulling the Division 1 Warriors even with a Division 2 Scarlet Knights squad that's been on a nice roll lately.

TEWKSBURY — Andover’s Liam Centrella had just a spit second to watch the puck enter the net before being mugged on the boards by his teammates.

“I had an angle and I saw it trickle in,” said Centrella. “Then I couldn’t help but celebrate. It was total madness.”

Matt Swett potted his first hat trick of the season, giving him 16 goals, as Andover rolled over Arlington 7-1.

Liam Centrella scored two goals and assisted on another as Andover jumped out to a three-goal first-period lead and cruised to a 6-2 drubbing of Chelmsford.

LAWRENCE — As the final horn sounded, Central Catholic goalie Kyle Williams leaned back onto the net and looked up at the ceiling, like his teammates breathing a sigh of relief.

“We didn’t want to let the puck back into the zone another time,” said Raiders center Tommy Evangelista. “We got the puck back into their zone and played the rest from there.”

Matt Swett scored two goals and Andover pummeled Haverhill 8-0. Kyle Berthiaume stopped all 14 Haverhill shots.

Andover's Matt Swett, a former Austin Prep student, scored a pair of goals as the Golden Warriors played the Cougars to a 2-2 tie. Swett also scored two goals when Andover defeated Austin earlier in the season.

Liam Centrella and Matt Swett scored two goals each, with Swett's goals coming off the power play during Andover's 4-0 win over Westford Academy. Goalie Kyle Berthiaume posted a shutout with 12 saves.
