Royals face must win

 

Georgetown's boys soccer team played well to tie a strong Wilmington team, 0-0, but the Royals (6-6-3) need a win or tie today against Ipswich to make the tournament. Ben Warren made seven saves at goalie and Kevin Morrissey had a superb game in the midfield.

Filling in fine

Backup goalie Chris Grimble made 12 saves but it was not enough as North Andover boys soccer lost 2-1 to Wilmington. Starting keeper Mike Moroney suffered a concussion in the game vs. Pentucket on Tuesday and will be out for at least two weeks, maybe more, coach Bill Tarbox said.

The streak is over

After stopping Wilmington's effective counterattacking, North Reading went to work offensively and ended the Wildcats' Cape Ann League unbeaten streak at 27 games (20-0-7), winning 3-0. Julius Dengenhardt and Tommy Dixon each scored their first varsity goals with ample help from Chris Schipelliti, the "engine" of the Hornet offense according to head coach Mark Bisognano.
