LOWELL — Arlington Catholic head coach Joel Burke was almost hoping against hope.
Trailing 12th seed North Reading, 2-1 late in the twice-delayed Division 2 North semifinals yesterday, Burke thought his eighth-seeded Cougars still had a shot if they could get their first three hitters up one more time.

Bernie Corrado was 1 for 3 with a three-run homer (one of only 2 home runs coach Evans has seen over the fence at North Reading), and Danielle Ouellette was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI. Coach Evans said his team has been playing great defense and is right there, they just need to catch a break to get over the hump.
