With Derek Marenholz finishing up a suspension, North Reading needed others to make up for the standout's absence. Dylan Poor (4 goals, 2 assists) and Matt Robinson (3 goals) were up to the task as the Hornets drubbed Upper Cape Cod 13-4, in their tourney opener.

With Derek Marenholz sparking the offense and Brian Smith buttressing the defense, North Reading dispatched Wilmington, 11-5. The Hornets registered assists on all of their goals and Marenholz' savvy ball movement was the key, and Smith intercepted Wildcat passes and generally disrupted their transition game.

Freshman Cam Knight scored three goals and added one assist in his first ever varsity game to help North Reading win 18-2 over Saugus.  

Cody Carbone and Derek Marenholz each scored three goals, and Chris Kirby played a great game in the net, racking up 14 saves as North Reading ended Newburyport's perfect season. 

Freshman attacker Jeremy Buckley wasted little time getting onto the varsity scoreboard, netting two quality goals in North Reading's season-opening 6-1 victory over Malden. Chris DiPietro also scored a pair in a game played under monsoon conditions at the Hornets' new artificial turf field.
