Timberlane survives late scare, moves to semis

Undefeated Timberlane survived despite Manchester Memorial tying the game with 6 seconds left yesterday.

The Owls, however, regrouped  in overtime when Nikki Rothwell drew a defender, then dropped off a pass to Emily Cannon who scored from midcircle with 6:36 left in OT to give No. 1 Timberlane a 2-1 victory over No. 8 Memorial in Class L quarterfinal action.

Timberlane stays perfect

Nikki Rothwell netted two goals and added an assistt to help Timberlane close out a perfect regular season.

Timberlane, which is ranked No. 1 in the Class L tournament, only has posted two unperfect regular season in program history. Two years ago, it went 13-0-1.

Timberlane Field Hockey goes to 13-0 defeating Keene 3-0, on the strength of two Sarah Calder goals. Emile Cannon scored the other Timberlane goal. Timberlane last game is Friday vs Londonderry when they will go for a perfect season.

Orban and Rachel Guerin (knee), who should be back for the next game, have combined for eight shutouts. Emily Cannon had a goal and an assist.

Carrie Dresser and Becky Hurley were the key defenders in Timberlane's 3-0 shutout over Manchester Central. The pair helped keep the Little Green offense away from Rachel Guerin and Kati Orban as the netminders only had to face two shots. Krista DeLuca had a goal and an assist for the Owls (8-0).
