Strapping his team on his back, Andrew Sokol (7 goals, 2 assists) and his attack mates carried Newburyport to its second win of the season over North Reading. Steven Matses had three goals, Grant Francis had one goal and one assist, Nate Morneault had one goal, Greg Schofield had two assists, and Dean Cataldo had six saves for the Clippers.

Campbell comes through

Filling in for injured starter Joe Butera (broken bone in hand), sophomore Joe Campbell earned his first varsity win in just his second career start. Behind Campbell's 14 saves, Georgetown easily overcame North Reading, 13-6. With Butera not expected back until the end of the season (if at all), the Royals will need Campbell to continue producing like he did last night.

Ben Warren (4 goals and 2 assists), John Bordonaro (3 goals and 1 assist), Mike Smith (3 goals and 2 assists), Max Mangano (1 goal and 1 assist), Josh Hall (goal; celebrated birthday), Matt Butera (assist), and Ben Brock (goal) all played well in the Royals (1-7) initial win of the season.

Hornets dominate Malden

A trio of freshman led the way for North Reading as it easily handled Malden 14-2. Cody Carbone (goal, two assists), Eric Balenti (three goals, assist), and Chris Schippelletti (two goals) combined for nine points for the Hornets as it notched it's first win of the season, improving to 1-1.

Hornets stung by Wilmington

T.J. Lumb tallied twice for North Reading, but it wasn't enough as the Hornets fell to Wilmington, 8-4, in yesterday's season opener. Pat Sullivan had two assists and Andrew Burns made 15 saves to try to keep the Hornets in it.
