Donald Celestin led the way with 21 points, and Yeltsin Colon chipped in with 7 points and 10 boards. Kevin Lentini had a team-high 18 points for North Reading.

North Reading clinches share of CAL title

North Reading crushed Lynnfield 80-47 to clinch at least a share of the CAL title for the first time in five years. The Hornets are tied with Georgetown at 11-2 in the league. 11 North Reading players scored at least one point in the romp, with Paul Burdett and Kevin Lentini leading the way with 16 apiece. John Finch also chipped in 12 points.

Tourney bound

North Andover boys basketball sealed up a state tournament berth with its 10th win of the season, a 58-39 victory over North Reading. Nick Fay led the Knights in scoring with 12 points, and John Warden had a huge performance with eight points and eight rebounds. Kevin Lentini scored a team-high nine points for the Hornets as North Andover didn't allow a single double-digit scorer.

North Reading 67, Masconomet 62

Darren Hartwell had 17 points to lead four players in double figures during North Reading's 67-62 win over Masconomet. The Hornets (11-1) pull into a first place tie with Georgetown, each at 7-1 in the CAL small. North Reading hit 16 of 21 from the line and sealed it with John Finch's 4 for 4 efficency from the line in the fourth quarter. Kevin Lentini (15 points) ent 7 for 9 from the stripe.

Hornets headed to postseason

The North Reading boys basketball team improved to 10-1 and qualified for postseason play thanks to yesterday's 76-58 win over Amesbury. The Hornets were led by Darren Hartwell (15 points) and Kevin Lentini (12 points). A true team effort, North Reading had 11 players record at least two points.

Dionne drops 12 off bench

The North Reading boys basketball team fell into an early deficit, trailing 8-1 early on in the opening quarter, but rebounded to crush Lowell Catholic, 69-47. The Hornets, who in spite of putting up 69 points shot just 35 percent from the field (29-of-83), remain undefeated at 6-0.
